ABOUT THE ARTIST

 

   John M. Thompson was born in Three Rivers, Michigan, and completed his B.F.A. from Miami University in Ohio. His first art job was with Foote, Cone and Belding in Chicago. In 1974, he was given a cover assignment for Goal magazine, the publication for the National Hockey League, and his freelance career was launched. This was followed by a long series of clients, including Time, Playboy, Forbes, National Geographic, Scholastic, Guide Post, Field & Stream, Esquire, and several book publishers. His work has won numerous Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards n exhibitions at both the New York and Los Angeles Society of Illustrators. He also exhibited at the Zimmerli-Voorheis Museum, the Wycoff Gallery, the Pentagon Gallery, and the U. S. Air Force Gallery.

    Thompson has taught at Syracuse University in the U.S. from 1994-1998, and at Syracuse University in Florence, Italy, in 1998 and 1999.
