Now offering more than 2,500 original artworks, The Illustrated Gallery stems from the passion of a private collector who has spent more than 50 years amassing one of the finest and largest collections of American illustration. Our commitment to connecting clients with illustrated art extends beyond a simple business transaction. We cherish the relationships we build with fellow art enthusiasts and find immense satisfaction in witnessing the joy our collectors experience as they proudly display their new acquisitions in their homes.

Recently, we had the privilege of placing a Frank Schoonover painting in a discerning collector’s home. We were so captivated by the thoughtful manner the artwork was integrated into their living space that we asked their permission to share an image of their display to inspire other collectors.

A client’s newly acquired Frank Schoonover painting is displayed prominently in their home, accompanied by the original edition of the magazine in which the illustration first appeared, as well as an enhanced reproduction of the relevant page.

The original painting, now gracing the mantelpiece, is elegantly complemented by a display case showcasing the original American Boy magazine where the illustration appeared in print, alongside a framed enhanced reproduction of the story page. This presentation not only allows for an aesthetic appreciation of the original artwork but also pays homage to its fascinating history.

Initially conceived as a vignette for the printed story, Schoonover later revisited the scene to create a more refined and finished picture. By juxtaposing the original artwork with the printed magazine and a reproduction of the illustrated page, the collector has created a captivating focal point that is sure to spark intriguing conversations about the creative process and the multifaceted nature of illustrated art, which seamlessly transitions between commercial and fine art realms.
