ABOUT THE ARTIST

 

Harold Anderson studied at the Fenway Art School in his native Boston. Among his instructors were Chase Emerson, Harold Brett, and Arthur Spear.

    His first illustrations were made for Boy’s Life in 1919 and were followed by work for the most of the leading publications, many national advertising campaigns, and twenty-four-sheet billboard posters.

    He won numerous poster awards and exhibited in Art Directors Club shows in 1937, 1940, 1942, 1946, 1950 and 1951. Anderson was a member of the Society of Illustrators, The Old Greenwich Art Society, the Artists Guild and the Westport Artists. He had a one-man show at the Society of Illustrators in 1942.
