ABOUT THE ARTIST
Ben worked at Gerlach Barklow Co., as did his sister, Adelaide Hiebel. Both artists had a similar style of painting...so similar in fact, at first glance, his work might be mistaken for that of his sister, Adelaide. We have seen very few original works by Ben Hiebel, and many if not all are in the same style as his better known sister, Adelaide. Even the printing style of his signature is quiet similar. Adelaide Hiebel produced nearly three hundred calendar images in the thirty five plus years she worked at Gerlach Barklow. No known calendar images exist from Ben Hiebel's paintings.
