ABOUT THE ARTIST

 

Born, January 6, 1921.  Studied art and Illustration at Pratt Institute and the Art Student's League in New York City.  He was a freelance illustrator for over 40 years creating works such as book jackets for major publishers, magazines and other commercial clients.  Many of Julian Paul's early works were in gouache. 

Mr. Paul, now retired, lives with his wife, Marjorie, (married 63 years) at the Savanna Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida.  He is currently exhibiting at the Civic Center Art Gallery in the city.  His detailed works in acrylics are scenic views of the waterways of the Treasure Coast of Florida.  He has had a retrospective show at the A. E. Backus Gallery & Museum in Fort Pierce (2003) as well as participation in juried shows at the Arts Council of Martin County Cultural Court House and the Elliott Museum in Stuart, Florida.
