ABOUT THE ARTIST

 

Portrait painter, illustrator, teacher. Born in Greenridge, MO on March 22, 1877. Alice Beach was raised and educated in St Louis and studied there for six years at the School of Fine Arts where she was awarded highest honors. She further studied for one year at the ASL in NYC. In 1904 she married artist Charles A. Winter. She was a resident of Pasadena, CA in 1932 and Gloucester, MA from 1947 until her death in April 1968. Her work includes magazine illustrations of child life and children's portraits.
