Finished painting done as a prototype for the mural at the University of Pennsylvania

LITERATURE
L.S. Cutler and J. Goffman, Maxfield Parrish, Avenel, New Jersey, 1993, p. 105, illustrated (as Presentation Design for the Bulletin Board at the Mask and Wig Clubhouse).

The Mask and Wig Club, at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, contains several Parrish works. The proscenium arch of the upstairs theatre was decorated by Parrish with banners and scrolls. On each side is a robed youth in a plumed cap, holding a shield. The present work is a related study.
