ABOUT THE ARTIST
He was a science fiction artist from c. 1930-1965, and also did comics, Planet Comics in the early 1940s, ACG horror/mystery in the 1950s and 1960s.
The fiction magazine market was shrinking in the 1970s, Renown's mainstay magazine was Michael Shayne's Mystery Magazine, which was still published into the late 70s; they bought Zane Grey's Western Magazine but not until 1969 and it didn't last long.
